At Aesthetic Smiles of Connecticut, many of our patients have expressed a desire to have straighter teeth, but don't want to go through the inconveniences associated with traditional orthodontic treatment with metal braces. That's why we're proud to offer Invisalign® at our practice serving Fairfield, Westport, and all of Connecticut. With the Invisalign® system, a series of clear plastic aligners are used to straighten teeth, often in substantially less time than traditional braces require. Using his skills as a cosmetic dentist and his special training in the use of the Invisalign® system, Dr. Hacker can evaluate your case and help you decide whether this revolutionary system is the right choice for your orthodontic treatment.
Most of our patients prefer Invisalign® because it uses a series of clear plastic aligners, rather than metal brackets and wires, to gradually move the teeth into the desired position. The aligners are made from comfortable plastic, which is less likely than metal to cut or irritate your mouth. In addition, the aligners can be removed so that you can care for your teeth with ease and eat foods that are restricted to wearers of metal braces. But, best of all, the aligners are virtually unnoticeable, so most people won't even know that you're undergoing orthodontic treatment.
At the beginning of your Invisalign® treatment, Dr. Hacker will examine your teeth and make molds of your mouth. He will send these molds and his treatment plan to the Invisalign® laboratory where technicians will use special computer software to craft your aligners to exact specifications.
Your first set of customized aligners will be ready in about two weeks. You will visit our office at this time so that Dr. Hacker can explain your Invisalign® treatment plan to you in greater detail. A new set of aligners will be sent directly to you every two weeks throughout your treatment. You wear each set of aligners for two weeks, and then replace them with the next set in your series. Aligners should be worn at all times, with the exception of when you remove them to brush, floss, and eat. During your treatment, you will visit our office every few months for checkups to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned. When the aligners are worn as directed, patients are often able to complete treatment with Invisalign® in six months to a year.
